Nikon D90 Review
I have owned (and loved) a Nikon D90 for about 6 months now. Before buying this camera I was a Canon user (my girlfriend talked me into switching). I don't have the time to go into full detail about every feature but here are the pros and cons that are most important to me (and most likely you too). You can pick up the Nikon D90 for quite a good deal at Amazon, Body Only or in a Kit w/ 18-105 VR.
Pros
- Robust, professional camera for a fraction of the cost of a full pro camera.
- Great high ISO performance.
- I love the large viewfinder.
- The LCD is the best I have seen on any DSLR and is the same one that Nikon puts on its $5000 D3S.
- Easy to customize many aspects of the camera.
- Autofocus is fast (of course depending on the lens).
- Automatic chromatic aberration correction.
- Turns on instantly.
- Easy to playback and/or delete photos.
- Very good battery life, in my experience 1500-2000 photos per charge.
Cons
- Meter can be too liberal at times and make parts of a photo way too bright.
- Bundled software is practically useless.
- Automatic white balance is not the best in incandescent light, can be corrected by manually setting a specific color value.
- Video capability is also practically useless.
Recommendation
Despite the cons, the camera is simply amazing and the most cost effective professional camera that you will ever find. Amazon sells the Body Only or in a Kit w/ 18-105mm VR.
